I slept well last night and woke up feeling much better this morning. I still dislike my mentor teacher but I was able to face the day with out anger and displeasure. The kids has a test in my classes so there wasn't much to do and I managed to get part of the test graded. Now onto the essay portion.
I feel that the educational system has failed our children. They are not required to write enough. I am not joking the classroom teacher asked me if *I* wanted them to use complete sentences when answering the essay questions.... ummmm yes. I felt like saying: Sentences lead to paragraphs which then lead to essays. DUH. It is quite shocking to be in a Business type class with 9th-12th graders who can not compose an intelligent paragraph on a topic they just spent a month studying. It's also very sad that some of these students are headed to a university or the work place in the next few months. This experience today has made me more determined to keep up with my "Question of the Day". If nothing else it gets the kids writing and possibly even thinking *Gasp*.
I am feeling more confident about this week's plan for the classroom and even looking forward to this month's game plan. Renee seems to have a change in her attitude as well. Who really knows what happened over the weekend but IMO its more day done and one day closer to 4/9/10 !
